Established in 1966 by General and Mrs. L. Kemper Williams, The Historic New Orleans Collection operates a museum accredited by the American Association of Museums in a complex of historic French Quarter buildings. The history of the city of New Orleans is chronicled in the halls of this memorable museum.

The Historic New Orleans Collection is comprised of four structures - the Merieult House, built in the 1700s; the Counting House, constructed 1794- 95; the Williams Residence, which dates back to 1889; and the three- story Maisonette. Permanent exhibition galleries display the history of the city, and state.

The recent attraction is the Odyssey's Shipwreck and Treasure Adventure which offers a fun filled adventurous day full of interactive games, displays and videos of deep sea shipwrecks. It showcases some stories of the world's most famous shipwrecks, historical events and treasures. In addition, it features the SS Republic, the ship that sank in a hurricane while sailing from New York to New Orleans. The different adventures include Adventure Theater, The Quest, Treasures of the Deep and many more.The Museum is New Orleans treasure chest of history and legend.
Hours : Tue through Sat10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except holidays). Tours of the history galleries and the Williams Residence are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
