Audubon Aquarium of the Americas remained shut down for eight months due to the Hurricane Katrina. Recently it has been reopened.
The Aquarium showcases exhibits with a wonderful new animal collection. The penguin colony at the Aquarium features two species of warm- water penguins: African black- footed penguins and Rockhopper penguins. .

The Aquarium's Seahorses features incredible creatures like the sea dragons. There are only 32 known species of seahorses. ‘Spots' is the name of the big white alligator that is certain to draw crowds of visitors when they catch a glimpse of him sunning on his platform, or resting in the water of his exhibit.

Want to discover the aquatic animals? Enter the Caribbean Reef through the Aquarium's 30- foot- long aquatic tunnel where you'll see creatures of all shapes and sizes, surrounded by 132,000 gallons of water.
Aquarium Admission
Adult, .50 Child (2- 12), Senior.
Hours : Tue through Sun(closed Mon) 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Regular admission rates apply.
The Aquarium will be open July 4 from 10 am to 5 p.m. July 4th Activities
The Aquarium will be closed Mardi Gras day and Christmas day.
