Both visitors and residents enjoy sports in New Orleans. Among the many sports that New Orleans hosts is the sport of yachting. There are two yacht clubs on the borders of Lake Pontchartrain which are the Southern Yacht Club and the New Orleans Yacht Club. The Southern Yacht Club, incidentally, happens to be the second-oldest US-based yacht club around. You can also enjoy sports in New Orleans like women’s rugby.
The New Orleans Halfmoons
The New Orleans Halfmoons are well-known to those who enjoy sports in New Orleans. It is a women’s rugby team which is part of the USA Rugby rugby union national governing body. The New Orleans Halfmoons had to be disbanded when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and devastated the city but returned in February 2007 to host the “Throw Me Something Rugger” yearly tournament. USA Rugby presently maintains headquarters in Boulder, Colorado.
